The actress Chrissy Metz shared the details about her weight-loss journey,
her tough childhood and how it’s affected her role in "This is us".

The first time Metz read the script of "This is Us" she instantly felt a connection to her character. Just like her character Kate she has gone through a lot of hardships. Since childhood, Chrissy has struggled with her weight. The actress claimed that she was “born chubby” and had to fight with being overweight basically her whole life.


By the age of 11 Metz was attending Weight Watchers meetings. She was the only child there.
She landed her first major role shortly after when Chrissy was cast as Barbara "Ima" Wiggles on American Horror Story: Freak Show. The job required Metz to wear a fat suit which had a sobering effect on the actress.

Soon Metz landed a role in the TV series This Is Us. The contract required Chrissy to lose weight along with her character and the actress was excited for that journey.

In real life Chrissy doesn’t worry that much about numbers. In 2017 during an interview with Marie Claire the actress confessed that she doesn’t even know how much she weighs.

As for her personal life, Chrissy has been lucky enough to meet her prince charming – an aspiring writer Bradley Collins whom she met through a popular dating app.
