Do SSRIs Reduce Sex Drive? (Zoloft, Sertraline etc.)
One of the common questions, when people are first prescribed an SSRI such as Sertraline, Zoloft or Prozac is "Do SSRIs Reduce Sex Drive?"
The short answer is yes, unfortunately, a reduced sex drive is a common side effect for taking any antidepressants SSRI and my own experience of Sertraline is no different. Loss of sex drive can be scary and understanding how this might effect you is really important!
Low libido can a challenging ordeal for anyone and the level of impact will vary from person to person. The most common sexual side effect to occur in men includes erectile dysfunction with male and female SSRI takers both having difficulty achieving orgasm or suffering a complete lack of interest in sex.
This is usually very temporary and my experience was that the first two weeks of Sertraline removed my libido and sex wasn't a priority for me. As time progressed and I got used to the Sertraline my libido increased and I found myself far more able to
